IPL Fotofacial treatments utilize the latest advances in laser
technology to help treat everything from sun damaged skin to rosacea,
age spots, premature wrinkles, pigment problems, bags under the eyes and
large pores on the face, neck, and chest. Fotofacial (aka photofacial or
photo facial) treatments center around the patented Florescent Pulsed
Light system, which penetrates deep below the skin's surface to help
start the production of new collagen and other connective tissues. This
process leaves the skin rejuvenated and smooth, starting from the very
first treatment. Treatments
can be performed on the face, neck, chest and hands and required little
or no downtime. There is a very high degree of patient satisfaction with
this very predictable and safe type of therapy.
IPL Fotofacial is an excellent alternative for anyone seeking a
non-surgical procedure with a proven track record for being safe and
successful.
Length:
Fotofacial
is usually performed as a series of treatments, about 5 in total, spaced
apart every 3 weeks. Actual Fotofacial treatments take around 15-30
minutes.
Results:
Fotofacial results are long-lasting. After a couple of years, additional
Fotofacial treatments may be needed.
Procedure:
The
skin is cleansed and topical anesthesia can be used, but is generally
not needed. A device blowing cold air gently cools the surface of the
skin. During the Fotofacial, a hand piece is gently glided over the skin
during the 20 minute procedure. The light penetrates the tissue and is
absorbed by either the blood when treating vascular lesions or the
melanin when treating pigmented lesions damaging them. The body's
natural processes then remove the injured tissue giving the skin a more
even and youthful appearance. During the week after the treatment one
will notice flaking off of the sun spots and decreasing redness,
revealing younger, more vibrant skin
Anesthesia:
None.
Fotofacial treatments are described as being similiar to being snapped
with a rubber band. After your treatment of Fotofacial, it's common to
experience minor discomfort, but can be easily controlled with standard
pain medication.
Patient Status:
Office visit.
Recovery:
None.
Some redness can occur after your initial Fotofacial treatment, but can
be easily covered.
Side Effects:
Fotofacial include temporary redness or swelling. Sometimes temporary
blistering and bruising can occur.
