Abdominoplasty, or "tummy tuck" surgery, is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to eliminate excess abdominal skin and tighten loose abdominal muscles. Tummy tuck surgery is ideal for anyone who has lost a significant amount of weight and been left with folds of lax abdominal skin. The procedure is also helpful for women whose abdominal skin and muscles have been stretched by pregnancy.
The tummy tuck procedure begins with an incision made across the abdomen. Folds of loose skin are trimmed away, and the underlying abdominal muscles are tightened to create a firmer midsection. The remaining skin is then raised and reattached, leaving the patient with a flatter, more toned abdomen.
It is important to be aware that the tummy tuck procedure is a major surgery, and the decision to undergo the procedure should not be made lightly. Patients should expect to experience bruising and swelling for the first few weeks after surgery. Facelift Surgery
Facelift is probably the best known cosmetic surgery procedure available. It is also probably the least understood. When people hear the word “facelift,” many envision tight, pulled-back facial skin and a completely unnatural appearance. This stereotype has prevented some patients from even considering facelift surgery. However, modern facelift procedures performed by experienced cosmetic surgeons can produce refined, natural-looking results that accentuate the natural beauty of patients without making them look like they've undergone major surgery.
At Face and Body Medical Aesthetics, Dr. Swetnam customizes facelift procedures to meet the exact needs and goals of each individual patient. Those who are just beginning to show signs of aging on their faces may require only a modified facelift that targets specific areas of the lower face, such as the area around the mouth and the jowls. The Ribbon Lift is designed to reposition tissue in the lower half of the face, lifting jowls and improving the appearance of sagging skin. During the Ribbon Lift procedure, small incisions are made behind each ear or near the hairline.
