What Is Thermage®?
Thermage® is a non-surgical treatment that can improve skin tone and texture. The production of collagen, the protein that gives skin its plump, firm appearance, decreases over time as a result of sun exposure and age. Skin begins to wrinkle and sag as a result. To reverse these signs of aging, Thermage® strengthens existing collagen and stimulates new collagen production in all three layers of the skin: the outer layer known as the epidermis, a middle layer referred to as the dermis, and an inner layer called the subcutaneous layer, or fat layer. Thermage® is the only non-invasive cosmetic procedure that treats all three skin layers.

The Thermage® Procedure
The Thermage® procedure generally takes between 20 minutes and two hours to complete. The ThermaTip™ instrument is gently guided over the treatment areas, delivering radiofrequency energy that heats collagen fibers, causing the skin to tighten almost immediately. Because the production of new collagen is stimulated during treatment, facial contours will continue to improve in the months after the procedure.
A brief heat sensation may be felt during treatment, but most patients feel little, if any, discomfort. Skin is protected with a cooling spray. Side effects are rare, affecting less than 2 percent of patients, and are generally very mild.
