Power Assisted Liposuction for Tulsa Areas: Visit Face and Body Medical Aesthetics

While liposuction should not be considered a weight loss treatment, it can tighten and tone areas of localized fat that are unresponsive to diet and exercise. If a patient is close to his or her ideal weight, power assisted liposuction is an excellent treatment to specifically target areas including the thighs, abdomen, and hips. This treatment method employs a motorized instrument that delicately breaks up fat cells, making it easy to remove unwanted fat from the body. What Is Power Assisted Liposuction?

Power assisted liposuction utilizes a vibrating cannula inserted through small incisions to break up fat cells. Since the instrument mechanically vibrates on its own, the physician does not need to exert as much force or energy as with traditional liposuction techniques. The cannula's movements loosen the fat cells, making it easier to gently extract them from the body. This technique reduces the risk of scarring, bruising, and swelling after the liposuction procedure.

The Power Assisted Liposuction Procedure

During power assisted liposuction, our Tulsa medical professionals use the tumescent technique. During tumescent liposuction, an anesthetic liquid solution is injected into the treatment area. The solution serves to numb the area so the patient experiences little, if any, discomfort. It also shrinks the blood vessels to minimize any bleeding that might occur during the procedure, and any post-surgical swelling or bruising. A cannula with a vibrating tip is then inserted through a small incision. The vibrations loosen the fat cells so they can easily be suctioned out.

The Benefits of Power Assisted Liposuction

Undergoing a power assisted liposuction procedure is beneficial for several reasons. First, the vibrating cannula allows the physician to make small, precise movements, without disrupting the surrounding tissue. And, since power assisted liposuction is performed through small incisions, patients experience less swelling and bruising than they would with traditional liposuction. Power assisted liposuction is especially effective at sculpting the inner thighs, abdomen, and male chest (in cases of gynecomastia, or enlarged male breast tissue). Patients also reduce the risk of complications since the procedure is generally shorter than traditional liposuction.
